James Savile & David Bowie is all around us

International making of a David Bowie cultural industry, situated as 1970s showcase UK for V&A exhibition 2013 -  a necessary bourgeois spectacle since decade's pop-culture totally dissed by sexual scandal after spectacular London 2012. Talk about making and unmaking of a celebratory text!

All credit to local Brixton, Bromley & Beckenham boy made good, giving 2012 gig a miss. And maybe London 2013 gig too...who said it's not where you're from but where you're going that counts..?

'cover' songs our teachers learn us on youtube

First post-firebombing Freedom Bookshop benefit gig - London Action Resource Centre, Saturday 23rd February - poetry not read. Didn't recognize attendees as poets. Didn't recognize Mike Weller.

Four great singer/songwriters/musicians playing like poets though - Torben Tietz; Moa Bergström;  Marzella. Younger generation promoting themselves through social media -
MySpace (still there for musos...), ReverbNation and Bandcamp. Benefit largely facebook organized (heard about Freedom Press fire through Sean Bonney UK Poetry space).
Tietz learned some technique from YouTube vids John Butler. Torben performed cover Mumfords' Little Lion Man. Bergström sang cover Katy Perry Teenage Dream to make "bad pop song good" (great wind-noise recording of 'cover' here) and duo Marzella sang cover Weezer Island in the Sun. Own song YouTube promo vid here.
Performers write and compose own material (Tietz vid here) - 'covers' simply perky little bonuses of appropriation.

In poetic cover spirit - "Percy Bysshe Shelley's The Masque Of Anarchy covered as a zine".
After HomeBaked printing costs first print run proceed go Freedom Press.

"The Superheroes of Kreiden"

Croydon Reporter, February 17 2010
"The Superheroes of Kreiden" is a comic strip serial printed in the space between "readers' comments" and "puzzle corner".
Croydon Reporter has one-hundred and twelve pages. Over seventy of these pages are advertisements. Many are coloured images of automobiles and residential properties mixed with local telephone numbers in large black and white fonts.Thirty or so pages are feature articles and half of these are listings or event promotions.
Cap Stelling was an artist. But "The Superheroes of Kreiden" didn't look like art in the Croydon Reporter. Perhaps he could turn it into a 'web' comic younger cartoonists spoke of.

The Superheroes of Croydon

A third page opens. The Superheroes of Croydon here are three petty-bourgeois, white, male poets, in their sixties, who grew up in South London suburban boroughs.

Poets for Pussy Riot (London)

Occasionally, I think of two different rhymes, a good one and a bad one, and I always choose the bad one because it is always the right one.

slippng down ReverbNation charts

Dear Cliff Penge and the SE20s,
You want more shows. We want to help you book them.
Good news - ReverbNation is working to expand its roster of
opportunities for artists in the United Kingdom. You can help us
determine which opportunities to bring to you first by completing
a short survey. A few minutes is all it takes to help us get in
touch with your favorite festivals, publications, and radio
stations.
Send Your Feedback!
We appreciate your insights and look forward to bringing you even
more opportunities to perform in and around the United Kingdom!
Looking forward to your thoughts,
RN Staff

Dear Cliff Penge and the SE20s,
We know you want more fans because who doesn't, really.
And, we know you work hard at making awesome music
so you probably don't have much time to promote.
That's why we built Promote It - to help ReverbNation
 artists find their next superfans.
Finish setting up your Promote It campaign today.  Don't
let the 768,000+ artists who have already run Promote It
campaigns get all of the good fans first.
Thanks,
- RN Staff

After Pugh's three-year prison sentence for a failed high street nail - Weller drew Pugh into prison. Wrote him as inmate 136804 HMP Brixton.

A Voice Inside (Home'Baked Books by Michael John Weller, 2010).

Last blog entry February 2012; tables have turned in Weller's Space Opera tale. Pugh draws the writer-in-residence into prison. Writes him as Portland jail inmate.

Mike Weller Poetry Feller, Posie Rider (Mossad Press*) (out of print)

Is Posie's title built around "A Minimus Postcode Poem" first read at Writers Forum (New Series) workshop and dedicated to Doug Jones?

If so, time it saw reprint. Has lines beginning and ending ---

"and the little electronic coloured lights go ▪▪▪▪
Phone Cards ▪▪▪▪ Mobile Phone & Accessories ▪▪▪▪
Repairs & Unlocking ▪▪▪▪ "

The poet's myEBook version has some of those so-crap-as-to-be-almost-pointless blurry cell-phone low rez YouTube images Weller pretentiously calls "videographs" just like this one here ---
